This light, refreshing, lager beer follows the style favoured in Cologne, and known as Kolsch. While being very light and pale, it nonetheless has more body and perfume than a simple lager. Contrary to these other lagers, Kolsch is a top-fermented beer. As with Champagne, the regional style has naming protection.

Drachenfels is the most visited of the hills in the Siebengebirge, or "Seven Hills", on the Rhine south of Cologne. It is best known as the home of the dragon killed by Siegfried in the Nibelungenlied; having killed the dragon, he acquired invincibility by bathing in its blood.

Also known as "Dragon's Rock Lager", this beer is presently only available in kegs.
